West Elected to Gas Board

 

            Helenwood, TN (2014-08-23) A Helenwood businessman has been elected to the Citizens Gas Utility District Board of Commissioners.

            Arnold (Dean) West, Jr. was elected to the Citizens Gas Utility District Board of Commission Saturday.  West, who outpolled six other candidates to win the seat, received a total of 296 of the 1043 votes cast in Saturday’s election.  Incumbent one-term Commissioner David E. Terry finished a distant sixth in the race, tallying a total of 71 votes.

Oneida businessman Keith Marcum came up second in the race with 258 votes, while Tony R. Younce finished third with 217.  Oneida businessman Wes Buttram finished fourth in the race, receiving 113 votes.  Rounding out the field were Jerry D. Burchfield, who received 72 votes, Terry with 71, and former County Commissioner Leonard Bertram, who received 15.

West will serve a five-year term on the gas board.

Nashville, TN (2014-06-26) It is summer in Tennessee and that means its grilling time for many residents. Although, outdoor cooking is a long-cherished tradition for most families, it also increases the possibility of fire-related incidents and injuries. Gas grills constitute a higher risk, having been involved in an annual average of 7,200 home fires in 2007-2011, while charcoal or other solid-fueled grills were involved in an annual average of 1,400 home fires. Fire Destroys Buffalo Road Home

 

Oneida, TN (2014-06-17) A four-alarm fire completely destroyed a Buffalo Road home Tuesday morning.

            Fire consumed a single-family dwelling Tuesday morning in the 6000 block of Buffalo Road.  The home, owned by David and Tonya West, was fully involved when the first units from the Pine Hill and Paint Rock Volunteer Fire Departments arrived on the scene.  First responders were quickly assisted by crews from the Winfield and Mid-County Fire Departments.

Despite the efforts of firefighters, the home was a total loss.

            No injuries were reported.  The homeowners were not at home at the time the fire broke out.
